Community Mini-Grant Program seeks to help fund local oral health programs

OKEMOS, Mich., (June 28, 2012) — The Delta Dental Foundation is currently seeking applications from community-based oral health programs and organizations in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana for its annual Community Mini-Grant Program. A submission deadline of September 3, 2012 has been set.

The program looks to award up to $100,000 in grants annually to organizations that address oral health needs in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Though special consideration is given to those applicants whose programs focus on improving the oral health of underserved children, all grant submissions will be considered.

“This is our sixth year offering our Community Mini-Grant Program, and we have found it to be an excellent way for the Foundation to help support local organizations that truly want to make a difference in the oral health of their communities,” said Teri Battaglieri, director of the Delta Dental Foundation. “Programs such as this help us carry out our mission of providing dental care to the underserved and increasing oral health awareness. We look forward to receiving this year’s applications.”

Submission guidelines include:

• Individual requests are limited to a maximum of $5,000.
• Grants must be dedicated to local, not-for-profit programs designed to improve the oral health of communities in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana only. Programs of particular interest are those designed to improve the oral health of low-income children.
• Only one proposal per organization per year will be considered.

Upon submission, Delta Dental will evaluate each application based on factors such as the program’s focus on children, potential value to the community, measurable results and the level of local community support it attracts.
