Escanaba woman awarded Patrick P. Gribben Jr. Community Commitment Award

$25,000 award recognizes dentist’s efforts in improving oral health
in high-needs community

Okemos, Mich.— The Delta Dental Foundation awarded the 2016 Patrick P. Gribben Jr. Community Commitment Award of $25,000 to Chelsea Pinozek, DDS to recognize her efforts in providing much needed dental care to children and adults in an underserved area in Michigan.

Pinozek was selected for the award by faculty of the University Of Michigan School of Dentistry based on her strong work ethic, desire to help others and commitment to work for at least one year in a designated high-needs community immediately following completion of her dental education and licensure requirements.

Pinozek is currently committed to practicing at Health Delivery Inc., in Saginaw. She chose the clinic after completing four weeks of clinical outreach rotation there as part of the school’s Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) program and knew that was where she wanted to start her career.

“I instantly felt so welcomed and comfortable with the office and staff and enjoyed the patient-centered interaction so much I knew this was a perfect fit for me,” Pinozek said.

“The Delta Dental Foundation is proud to award Dr. Pinozek the Patrick P. Gribben Jr. Community Commitment Award,” said Teri Battaglieri, director, Delta Dental Foundation. “This award recognizes her dedication to increasing access to care in a community where children and adults might otherwise not be able to receive the regular dental care they need.”

The award honors the memory of Patrick P. Gribben Jr., who served for 25 years as the president and chief executive officer of Delta Dental of Michigan and later as President of the Delta Dental Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the oral and overall health of the children and adults in the community.

“I am so honored and grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the Patrick P. Gribben Jr. Community Commitment Award,” Pinozek said. “Thank you to the Delta Dental Foundation and those who made this opportunity possible for me. I can’t wait to start my career in dentistry and begin getting involved within the community in Saginaw.”
