Delta Dental donates technology to Fairview STEM Magnet School

Okemos, Michigan — To cap off a successful school year and strong school-business relationship, Delta Dental recently donated nearly $10,000 worth of technology to Fairview STEM Magnet School.
The donation consists of 20 desktops, 10 laptops and 8 iPads. Rather than recycle the technology, staff at Delta Dental thought the students would benefit from the like-new equipment.
Fairview students and staff have grown close with Delta Dental employees over the past four years through several programs and partnerships. Every week, Delta Dental employees pack weekend bags of food for students. Employees also volunteer to read to students during National Reading Month, and participate in the school’s health fair, science fair and career day.

Delta Dental has also been pleased to provide Fairview students with a free field trip to Impression 5 Science Center and a showing of the oral health musical, “I Need My Teeth.”

“We partner with Fairview for multiple events throughout the year,” said Teri Battaglieri, Director of Communications, Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy at Delta Dental. “This donation is a continuation of that partnership and another way for us to ensure children in our community have resources to learn and succeed in school and life.”
Because of the technology donation, Fairview will be able to update and expand its computer lab, and the school’s reading and math specialist will be able to work one-on-one with students using the iPads.
“Delta Dental has been very generous to the Lansing School District and especially to our students at Fairview, and we sincerely thank them very much," said Superintendent Yvonne Caamal Canul. "The donation of computers to Fairview is tremendously helpful to our Magnet school students and our STEM program. Delta Dental is a valued, active corporate partner in supporting our young people in Lansing."
The equipment will be installed this summer and ready for use during the 2016-17 school year.
