West Orange dentist awarded Delta Dental Foundation’s Community Commitment Award
$25,000 award recognizes dentist’s desire to serve high-needs community
The Delta Dental Foundation recently honored Dr. Rebecca Schwarcz of West Orange, New Jersey with a prestigious award from the Delta Dental Foundation—the $25,000 Community Commitment Award.
Schwarcz is a 2017 dental school graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy.
She attended New York University for her undergraduate studies and after enrolling at the University of Detroit Mercy had the opportunity to work with patients from underserved areas and she found that experience so rewarding that she decided to seek a job in a dental clinic.
Faculty recognized Schwarcz as being a conscientious, hardworking and compassionate student. She was selected for the award by faculty based on her commitment to work for at least one year in a high-needs community immediately following completion of his dental education and licensure requirements.
“Through her time at Detroit Mercy Dental Rebecca has discovered a passion for working on behalf of the underserved,” said Juliette Daniels, Assistant Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management. “It has been a pleasure to know Rebecca as a student, and we are proud of the legacy she will be creating as she enters the dental profession.
Schwarcz will practice at Western Wayne Family Health in Inkster, Michigan.
