4/16/2021 Greater Lansing Food Bank mobile pantry sets up at Delta Dental with support from McLaren Health Plan
Okemos, Michigan— As employer parking lots sit vacant and unused, a few local organizations are getting creative to make use of the space while helping the community.
Together, Delta Dental, the Greater Lansing Food Bank and McLaren Health Plan are hosting a mobile food pantry from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. May 1 at Delta Dental, in the parking lot east of the buildings.
“In 2020, our employees and company invested nearly $50,000 to feeding our community, and while our in-person volunteering slowed due to the pandemic, our enthusiasm and commitment to corporate citizenship have not waivered,” said Margaret Trimer, VP of strategic partnerships for Delta Dental. “Our employees are eager to again support their neighbors and lift their spirits.”
Michelle Lantz, CEO of Greater Lansing Food Bank said mobile food distributions have become one of the main ways the organization provides hungry families with nutritious food. "We take a holistic approach to caring for our members and are honored to be able to extend that philosophy to those experiencing food insecurity in the greater Lansing area," added Nancy Jenkins, president and CEO of McLaren Health Plan.
