We empower well-being through health literacy
Building personal health literacy is an essential element in improving the well-being of our client populations. Helping people gain a better understanding of health through systematically planned learning opportunities increases their ability to maintain healthy behaviors and access appropriate health care services.
We Use Data to Drive Health Education. When designing health education interventions for a target population, we analyze social determinants of health, education levels, utilization data and other related factors. The results help us identify disparities that impede people’s ability to use information to make good health-related decisions. This data-driven process enables us to create health education programs tailored with the right content and delivery for a particular audience.
How We Build Health Literacy. Our health education framework considers the personal factors, family interactions and community conditions that influence health literacy and well-being. This approach includes the following priorities:
- Focus on disease prevention;
- Educate people how to use both self-care and professional care to maintain oral and systemic well-being;
- Collaborate with family groups, communities, schools, public health organizations and other stakeholders to extend the reach and effectiveness of health education; and
- Provide a range of educational opportunities specific to culture, language, education, community and health conditions.
We transform these priorities into health education interventions through presentations, videos, text messaging, telephone outreach, print campaigns and distribution of health education materials in traditional and non-traditional settings, including faith-based institutions, community centers and tribal locations
