Accidents happen. Parents of active kids know that all too well. For dental emergencies like bleeding, pain, infections, tooth issues or injuries, contact your dental office as soon as possible. Call 911 if it's a life-threatening emergency.
If you don't have a regular dentist, Delta Dental is here to help. Call our customer service at 866-696-7441 or use our the Find a Dentist tool to locate one nearby. After hours, call the same number for recorded information and emergency assistance. What if a dental emergency occurs while you're traveling out of state? Call Delta Dental’s customer service at 866-696-7441 for help finding a dentist. Even if they're not a Delta Dental HKD dentist, the HKD program covers services without prior authorization for emergencies outside Michigan. Healthy Kids Dental members can access the HKD teledentistry.com portal for virtual visits. Use it when:
- You have a dental emergency without a regular dentist.
- Your dentist is unavailable after hours.
- You need dental advice while traveling without a dentist.
Teledentistry is already included in your existing dental coverage.

Brushing and flossing are essential habits for preventing cavities. Reaching all tooth surfaces, however, can be challenging.
Fluoride strengthens enamel but isn't as effective on deep grooves. Dental sealants offer an added layer of protection and are covered by Healthy Kids Dental.
Sealants are applied to children's molars early on to prevent cavities. The process is quick and painless, requiring no anesthesia. Your dentist cleans the teeth, applies an etching solution, then paints on the sealant. It hardens either naturally or with a curing light.
Once in place, sealants can protect teeth for many years. However, regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups remain crucial.
Ask your dentist about sealants at your child's next visit to help prevent cavities.
To receive services at no cost to you, your child must see a Delta Dental HKD dentist. Find a dentist near you here.
- You can switch to another Delta Dental HKD dentist at any time.
- If you see a dentist who does not accept Delta Dental HKD, you may have to pay for services.
- If you are changing dental plans and have been diagnosed with or are being treated for a serious dental condition, call the Delta Dental team at 866-696-7441 (TTY users call 711). We can help you receive continued care.

- Preheat oven to 250 degrees
- Juice both lemons into a bowl
- Cut bananas into chip slices
- Dip banana pieces in lemon juice and place on baking sheet
- Cook for 3 hours, turning halfway through
- Allow to cool, store in airtight container

Reporting fraud, waste, or abuse
If you suspect someone of fraud, waste, or abuse, you can make an anonymous report. Call the Delta Dental anti-fraud hotline at 800-524-0147. You can also report to the state's Office of Inspector General (OIG) at 855-MI-FRAUD or by sending a letter to: Office of Inspector General, PO Box 30062, Lansing, MI 48909. You can also submit online here.
